Deeds of Mercy
The Deeds of Mercy is the other essential point of the Message of Divine Mercy. Jesus demands from us works of mercy through our deeds, words and prayers: “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful” (Lk 6:36)
In St. Faustina’s Diary we read: “I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of love for Me. You are to show mercy to your neighbors always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to excuse or absolve yourself from it” (Diary 742)
Let us notice the three demands that Jesus asks of her and, consequently of us: 1) the deeds of mercy must arise from our love for Him; 2) we must show mercy to our neighbors always and everywhere; 3) we cannot excuse or absolve ourselves from it.
In this same passage, the message continues: “I am giving you three ways of exercising mercy toward your neighbor: the first by deed; the second by word; the third by prayer. In these three degrees is contained the fullness of mercy and it is an unquestionable proof of love for Me”
